PYO Minutes from Meeting on Sept. 3, 2008

Members in attendance:  Gary Przybylski, Diane Przybylski, Kevin Bliese, Keith Jensen, Mitch and Sharon Brabender, Dave Tomashek, Rich Hunkins, Paul Ford, Tina Watermelon, Jay Robaidek, Al Halla, Tracy Budz, Tom Rentmeester, Todd Gutzman, Jill Davis, Jeff Anklam.

Secretaries Report:  was read. Motion by Todd G. to accept, seconded by Al H.  Motion carried.  

Treasurers Report:  was read.  Income from the tournaments was very good due to good weather and attendance.  Jeff A. motion to accept, Kevin B. second.  Carried. 

The Code of Conduct Changes were discussed.  They were modified to the following:

Coaches:  Add lines under game day and other responsibilities: 

• Conducting coaching responsibilities with your players while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is prohibited.  
• Retribution against a player or parent for reporting a violation of the code of ethics or filing an incident report will not be tolerated and will result in further disciplinary action.

Parents:  Revise line 15 to read: If a problem does arise with your child’s coach, I agree to contact the commissioner of that sport not the coach directly and to fill out an Incident Report using the form available on the PYO website within 30 days of the incident.  Motion made by Kevin B. and seconded by Todd G to vote on the revised proposal.  Motion carried.

Basketball: During a board meeting after the regular meeting the following coaches were approved.

Some grades may need additional coaches beyond those listed here if the numbers dictate.  If additional coaches are needed, they will be identified and approved at upcoming meetings.  All coaches should plan to attend a coaches meeting at 6:00pm on Oct. 1 to review expectations, sign up for gyms and tournaments.

Pulaski Tournaments Girls and 3^rd Boys Jan. 10-11.  Boys 4-8  Jan. 17-18.  Gyms are reserved.

Discussion was held on limiting the number of tournaments that PYO supports for the basketball teams.  This is due to the increasing number of teams and the inability to attract enough teams to our tournament to offset the cost of sending ours to tournaments.  A proposal was made to bring before the membership in October.  Each grade would be sponsored at the same number of tournaments as their grade (3^rd – 3 per team, 4^th – 4 per team, etc.)  Teams could attend additional tournaments during the regular PYO season (Nov. – April) at parent expense.

Motion made by Kevin B. and seconded by Paul F. to purchase 20 girls and 20 boys uniforms in sizes at the commissioners discretion.  Motion carried.

Briarton Game Club, Inc. donated $50 to the PYO.  Diane to send a thank you.

Motion made by Tina W. and seconded by Wayne K. to adjourn.  Motion carried.

Next meeting Oct. 1, 2008 at 7:00 pm in LGI 1 at the high school.
