PYO Minutes from Meeting on Jan. 7, 2009

Scholarship Presentations: Lisa Szela, Lindsey Przybylski, Zak Zablocki, Jess Kropp were present to receive their scholarships.  Brooke Basten’s father gave an update on Brooke who had to return to school in Tennessee early and received her scholarship.

Secretaries Report:  was read. Motion by Gary N. to accept, seconded by Tom R.  Motion carried.   Treasurers Report:  was read. Tournament account is basically at $0 but most tournament fees in and out for basketball are complete and trophies are paid for.  Softball and baseball not coming in yet.  Motion by Gary N. to accept, seconded by Tom R.

Basketball:

Pulaski Tournaments: discussed final details.  Diane to submit request for 2010 dates from the high school. Discussed having a committee for tournament planning next year to lighten the load on the commissioner and concession coordinator.

PYO Night – Events went well.

Gym sign ups conducted after the meeting.

Softball and Baseball:

Anyone interested in coaching softball or baseball for the 2009 season needed to submit their name by/at the Jan. 7, 2009 PYO meeting.  Selection/approval will take place by the board at the Feb. 4 PYO meeting.

Kevin Bliese will reserve the diamonds for the summer tournaments.  Boys – July 17-19, Girls – July 23-26, Boys – July 31, Aug 1-2.

Todd Stiede made a motion to switch to mechanical pitching machine for 8 year old tournament, 7 year old would stay with the T.  Chris Karcz seconded.  Motion carried.

Old Business:

Request approved by Mel Lightner to use the gyms after games and also during school vacation periods. 

New Business: 

Discussed the renewal of the web site.  Kevin B. made a motion to reimburse Steve Armstrong for the renewal fee.  Mitch B. Seconded.  Motion carried.  Steve will take care of the renewal.

Plan Ahead – Officers and Commissioners

In February we elect new Basketball Commissioners.  This is a two year term.  Both Todd Gutzman for Boys and Diane Przybylski for Girls are not planning on running again as their children will be leaving the basketball program.  No names were submitted at the January meeting.

In February, we will take nominations for new officers.  These are 1 year terms.  Some of the officers are not planning to run again due to their children leaving the PYO system.  Please consider running for an office.  Elections are in March.

In March, we will take nominations for new board members.  These are 2 year terms and you are required to attend at least 2/3rds of the PYO meetings to be a board member.  We will be electing 3 or 4 board members this year.

Motion made by Gary N. and seconded by Tom R. to adjourn.  Motion carried. Next meeting Feb. 4 at 7:00 pm in Social Studies Resource Room at the high school.
