PYO Minutes from Meeting on May 6, 2009

 

Members in attendance:  Gary Przybylski, Diane Przybylski, Todd Gutzman, Mitch Brabender, Chris Vertz, Wayne Kaczrowski, Tina Watermelon, Gary Naparalla, Mark Wichman, Jay Robaidek, Tom Rentmeester, Steve Armstrong, Kevin Bliese, Tracy Budz, Tressa Dorn, Terry Brockman, Al Halla, Jesse Lardnois, Mike Zablocki, Chris Karcz, Jim Doell, Keith Jensen, Todd Stiede.

Secretaries Report:  was read.  Motion by Al H. to accept, seconded by Todd G. Motion carried.   Treasurers Report:  was read. Motion by Tom R. to accept, seconded by Al H.  Motion carried.

Scholarships:  Gary N. getting the plaques.  Diane doing the letters.  They will be presented by Diane Przybylski at PHS on May 20 during the honors/scholarship ceremony.

Basketball:  The team selection guidelines, etc. were reviewed.  We decided to keep things the same until the committee with the schools is pulled together and makes recommendations.  Current practice is: Boys 3-6 split, 7-8 AB option, Girls 4-6 split, 7-8 AB option.  After PGSA is done, Jim Doell will be setting up open gyms for all age girls interested in improving their basketball skills.  They will be held on Mondays starting at 5:30 or 6:00 and run for 2 hours.  If at all possible, avoid scheduling softball practices on Monday evenings so the girls can participate.

Softball and Baseball:

o         Coaches are to collect the new $10 participation fee prior to giving out uniforms.  Checks made out to PYO are preferred.  $10 membership fee now only applies to people who want to become members and do not have children participating.  Steve to update the web site with the new information.

o         Gator/Groomer – In use.  Adults only allowed to operate.

o         Reminder – do not hold practices on wet fields.  We need to keep them in good condition and need to consider the safety of the players.

o         Uniforms – Tina indicated no additional uniform needs.

o         Concession coordinators – Tressa Dorn for ordering and running the boys.  Diane Przybylski and Barb Stephanie for running the girls.

o         No publicity needed for the tournaments, we are nearing full schedules.  There is still room for 18 U girls.

o         Park Clean Up is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 7 at 5 pm.  There is a game on diamond B at 6:30, but other than that no practices or games should be scheduled.  All players, parents and coaches should participate.  PYO meeting will follow at 7 pm at the park.

o         Liquor license application is needed for the tournaments.  Sheila McDermid, Gary Karcz – beverage servers.  Traci Budz will also get certified.  Tressa to apply for license.

 

New Business:

Weight Room: PHS has proposed borrowing $120,000 to outfit the school weight room with better equipment to expand its use for students and open it to the general public.  $13,300 each for 5 years will be provided by the school.  They are looking for the same amount in donations from local organizations.  Gary N. made motion to vote on the donation of $2000 per year for 5 years as proposed in April.  Todd Stiede seconded.  Motion carried.

 

Finances: Tressa closed the second account.  Discussion on opening an interest bearing account for our larger balances.  Motion made by Diane P, seconded by Gary N. for Tressa to open this account.  Motion carried.  Tressa requested the purchase of Quickbooks software to keep the PYO books.  Cost $189.  Approved.

 

The Booster Club is holding their golf outing this summer at Thornberry.  This is the main fundraiser for the Athletic Booster Club.  Cost is $100 per person and includes golf, dinner, music and lots of prizes.  You are strongly encouraged to support this fundraiser.  PYO was asked to consider sponsoring a “hole”.  PYO will get recognized for their sponsorship and the money goes to the fundraiser.  Motion made by Al H. to sponsor a hole for $100.  Seconded by Chris Karcz.  Vote on at next meeting.

 

Motion made by Todd G. and seconded by Al H. to adjourn.  Motion carried. Next meeting June 3 at 7:00 pm in Social Studies Resource Room at the high school.
