PYO Minutes from Nov. 4, 2009

Baseball/Softball:  Memorial Park field work: first layer is done.  Finish on Sat., Nov 7.  A Baseball Summit was held on Nov. 3 with the community baseball programs and the school coaches and AD.  Meeting again in Dec.  There will be coaches’ clinics for youth coaches and similar coordination that we are now engaged in with basketball.  We discussed the 15U tournament team and the option to dissolve it for 2010 due to difficulty in fielding a team and coordinating with league play and newly proposed JV school team over the summer.  Motion made by Tina, Seconded by Jim Elm.  Motion carried.  Will be reviewed and reconsidered annually.  A group of members from the various softball and baseball programs and community organizations have formed a FRIENDS FOR PULASKI PARKS COMMITTEE.  Purpose is to get Memorial Park Fields and Facilities up to par and then add 4 more diamonds in the community.  Discussed the sponsor banners for the diamonds that will help fund this effort.  Jay will bring a sample next month.

Basketball:

Pay for Refs and Scorekeepers.  Motion made by Tina, seconded by Todd S. to keep the Ref pay at $20 per game, per ref and provide food and drinks.  Scorekeepers: Boys will require a parent volunteer from each team to run the clocks and keep books.  Girls – Coach Doell is expecting his players to supply the games with the pay going to the Girls Basketball Program.  Motion made by Jay, seconded by Keith to donate up to $500 to the Girls Basketball program in lieu of providing scorekeepers.  Vote on donation in December.  In Feb. we need to discuss the entry fees for our tournaments.  We are falling behind other programs. 

 

New Business:  Via email, Jerad Marsh invited the PYO parents and coaches to a talk before the winter sports meeting by Bill Collar, a motivational speaker that presents PMA (Positive Mental Attitude)  and building relationships between parents, players and coaches in sports.
