2. PYO participants, girls and boys, must play in their age group with girls playing on girl’s teams and boys playing on boy’s teams. Tournament rules determine the maximum age or grade a player can be to participate on a team.
a. Basketball – teams are grade specific.
b. Softball – age group is determined by age as of Jan. 1.
c. Baseball – age group is determined by age as of April 30.
A younger player (by age) may play with his or her grade peers even if it is at a higher age level. A player older than the age cut off must play with their appropriate age group regardless of grade level.
Players may be asked to move up to a higher grade or age level if there is an inadequate number of players at that age level to make a full team. Players may request to move up to a higher grade or age level by making a formal request to the PYO board. There must be room on the roster of the requested team before the request will be considered and no older players can be cut to make room.
